How to set new goals?
It’s proven that those who write down their goals have 100% higher chances of achieving them on average compared to those who don’t.
This is something I do every year and so far I have been reaching all of them – although some goals have taken me longer than a year to achieve them…
You don’t need to spend hours on it, the important thing is to get started. Don’t overthink it, you can always add to your list or amend it.
If you have never set goals before, perhaps stick to 2 or 3, even if you set 1 goal and achieve it, you will feel like a winner. Either way, in this game of life you never lose if you know how to make your mind your best friend rather than your worst enemy – which is usually the case. But this is a topic for another post.
Before you start, ask yourself these 3 questions:
- What would I do if I couldn’t fail?
- What would I die for?
- If this was my last week, last month, or last year, what would be important to me?
What does it take to have what you want?
It takes courage to face your fears and recognise your inner calling. Most people are not living the life they desire because they don’t believe it’s possible for them. They are so focused on the problems they have that they can’t create solutions. They have convinced themselves that they don’t know what to do, or they have tried but nothing changed, or worse, they have stopped trying and now believe it will never happen. Indeed, if you are not prepared to take action, not much will happen and you will prove yourself right.
To keep it simple, consider setting goals in 3 categories: health, finances, and relationships – you could break these down into subcategories. For example:
Health
Physical
Mental
Finances
Savings
Debt-free*
Investments
Relationships
Intimate
Family and Friends
*Debt-free means that you will pay off your debt but it’s important to write your goals as if you had already achieved what you want because your focus is the key ingredient. You need to focus on the end result and not on the problem that you want to get rid of.
A trip to France in the Eurostar was the perfect occasion for me to write my goals but it doesn’t need to take you 2 hours. When will you sit down and write yours? Let me be your accountability partner. Comment below or email me to let me know you have done it or if you are feeling stuck.
Tips to stay motivated and achieve your goals:
- Give yourself a deadline – say you’ll have it done by [date] – Give yourself a realistic time length to achieve that goal.
- Break down your goals as much as you need to to make them achievable in your eyes.
- Find someone you trust to check on your progress.
- Be flexible, life is unpredictable, readjust, and focus on what you can influence.
- Remember to be kind to yourself and celebrate every small progress you make.
Final Strategy
I will give you a really simple strategy that I learned from a book I read, called The Superconscious Path.
You close your eyes, relax, and think of your current reality (CR) – what’s your biggest fear?
Once you find it, imagine that it happens. Go to that moment with your mind and experience being in that situation. What would be the consequences?
Now think hard and find something good about that…
You might need to think harder. You have to be completely OK with the worst case scenario happening so you don’t give it any power. For as long as you focus on what you don’t want, you have no creative power available to get what you want.
Check-in with your body how you feel now. Perhaps what you fear the most has a solution that you have not considered.
After this, you are ready to think about your desired reality (DR). Fill in the cells for each of the things that you identified that you want and write at least one inspired action that can get you closer to your desired reality.

Now, armed with your goals and a strategic mindset, it’s time to embark on your journey to a transform your life. Remember, the act of setting goals is a powerful step toward manifesting the life you desire. The key lies in focusing on your aspirations rather than dwelling on fears or challenges.
I invite you to take a moment today to write down your goals. Whether big or small, the act of writing them down signifies your commitment to their achievement. Start with just a few if you’re new to goal-setting, and don’t hesitate to refine or add to your list later.
Feel free to share your goals in the comments or drop me an email—I’m here to be your accountability partner. Together, we can celebrate each milestone and navigate any challenges that may arise.
As you move forward, embrace these tips: set deadlines, break down your goals into manageable steps, seek support from trusted individuals, adapt to life’s unpredictability, and most importantly, be kind to yourself throughout the journey.
